Achieving sustainable productivity in animal nutrition requires optimizing feed efficiency while reducing environmental impact. Fat is the most energy dense ingredient in any feed formulation. It is also the one most likely to leave the gut only partially digested. Under commercial conditions, endogenous emulsification rarely operates at full capacity. Heat stress suppresses bile salt secretion. High-fat or high-fibre diets push the system past its limits. Young animals simply haven’t yet developed the bile acid pool needed to fully process dietary fat.
