Mastitis remains the costliest problem in dairy farming. It is an inflammation of the mammary gland in the udder, typically due to bacterial infection via damaged teat. Consequences are triple: cow must spend energy to fight the infection, farmer must spend time to cure the cow and avoid production loose, dairy processor must control milk quality to maintain high sanitary standard.
